Rachel Smith BMus, PGDip, MMT(NR), HCPC Registered
Rachel graduated from the Nordoff Robbins Master of Music Therapy (Music, Health, Society) programme in the summer of 2013. Since qualifying, she has worked in both the US and the UK with children and adults with learning disabilities (SLD, PMLD), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD).
Rachel is passionate about the tailored use of music to address key areas of development, especially communication and emotional well-being. The strength of music therapy is that it can focus on specific goals whilst working holistically with the whole person, celebrating them as they are now.
Sophie Whisker GSMD Perf. Dip, BMus (Hons), MA
Sophie trained at the University of the West of England and graduated with her MA in 2013. She has experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities (PMLD) and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), and children presenting with social, emotional and behavioural concerns and developmental delay. She has also worked with older adults within a palliative care setting, most of whom had dementia and comorbidities including Parkinson's, motor neurone disease (MND) and depression.
Sophie is passionate about using music to communicate non-verbally, providing a therapeutic space in which emotions can be safely expressed and explored and for individuals to feel heard, held and valued. She particularly enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team in order to provide the most comprehensive approach to holistic support and wellbeing.
Sophie can provide music therapy in the following places, amongst others:
- Chipping Campden
- Chipping Norton
- The Forest
- Upper & Lower Slaughter
