Rebecca Myles BSc (Hons), BA (Hons), MRCSLT, MASLTIP, HCPC registeredBeckie qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2009. She has been working for the NHS for 8 years across a range of different settings including community clinics, preschools, mainstream and special schools. She has a wealth of experience working with children aged 2-16 years with a range of different speech, language and communication needs.

Beckie is skilled at working with children who have additional needs, such as autism, learning difficulties and complex medical and physical needs. She specialises in Dysphagia and is able to support families and children with difficulties managing new food textures and learning to chew.

Beckie has spent a long time working closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team and believes that joint working is essential for achieving positive outcomes.

Beckie has further training and specialist interest in:

  • ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions)
  • AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) systems, which are used to enhance an individual’s existing communication system, i.e. Low-tech systems such as:

Lisa Dobraszczyk BSc (Hons), MRCSLT, HCPC registeredLisa is a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist. Since qualifying from the University of Reading in 1998, she has had a great deal of experience working in community clinics, mainstream schools and special school provision. Her area of expertise is with younger children aged 2 upwards. She is experienced in helping children with speech sound difficulties and language delay and disorders. She is also trained in Lidcombe therapy to support children who stammer.

Lisa currently works part-time in a special school with children with learning difficulties, Down's Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Conditions. She is trained in Talk Tools, PECS, Signalong and Makaton. She is passionate about developing children's communication potential and in giving children the tools to communicate as best they can, whether that is through speech or an alternative method such as PECS or signing. She is also passionate about working with children and their whole environment, including their family and educational setting, in order to support all those involved in that child's development. Her aim for therapy sessions is that they should be fun and engaging for the child and easy to continue for the family.

Lisa is able to provide home or school visits in Stockport (including places such as The Heatons and Cheadle) and also parts of South Manchester (e.g. Withington).

Becky qualified from City University, London in 2010. After spending two years working privately in Los Angeles, she came back to the UK and gained experience in both private and NHS settings. Becky has worked with a range of speech, language and communication needs in clinics, early years settings, schools and homes with children aged 0-16 years.

Becky’s areas of interest are early years (from birth), and primary and secondary mainstream schools. This includes working with developmental delay, developmental language disorder, autistic spectrum condition and speech sound delay and disorder. She is particularly enthusiastic about working closely with families and educational settings in order to support a child’s communication in all aspects of their daily life.

Becky is certified to deliver Palin Parent-Child interaction for children under 7 who stammer (an intensive programme developing interaction strategies with parents/guardians) and Hanen Learning Language and Loving it (a programme focusing on adult-child interaction in early years settings). She is also trained in Makaton sign and using Lego for therapy.

In addition to The Owl Centre, Becky works part time in mainstream schools delivering both direct and indirect intervention with individuals and groups.

Jen is a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist. She qualified from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2007 and has since worked within the NHS. Her professional experience has enabled her to develop skills working within community clinics, mainstream and special educational settings with children who have speech, language and/or social communication difficulties.

In 2012 Jen specialised in Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This has involved working closely with children who have social communication difficulties or a diagnosis of ASC. She is passionate about communication and believes strongly in collaborative working with parents and schools to enable a child to achieve their full potential.

Further specialist training that Jen has undertaken includes:

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). Jen is fully trained to assess/diagnose ASC and does this on a daily basis within her NHS role.
