Stephanie Jarosova M.Ed., M.Ed., P.G.Dip., B.A.
Stephanie is a dual-qualified Child and Adolescent School Counsellor and SEN Intervention Specialist who is committed to removing barriers to learning and improving children’s wellbeing and resilience. She has over 15 years of experience supporting children and young people in schools across Asia and Europe, and is trained to work with all ages from Reception through to KS4. Stephanie can provide a broad range of therapeutic support both through direct work with children experiencing social-emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health difficulties, as well as through the provision of training and consultation to school staff and families.
Stephanie is experienced in providing support and intervention for children and young people experiencing: low self-esteem, bullying, anger management problems, self harm, separation/divorce, sexual orientation/gender identity issues, social skill deficits, anxiety disorders, sadness and depression, ADHD, ASD, challenging behaviour, school refusal/absenteeism, grief and loss, and PTSD.
Stephanie is integrative in her approach, which means that she has a large toolbox of theory and therapeutic skills to draw on which enable her to develop and implement individualized interventions and treatment plans that are responsive to the needs and preferences of the young people, families, and schools she works with. An Australian trained and accredited School Counsellor, Stephanie has found that a key strength of her background is the focus on a holistic and systemic approach to mental health. Her qualification requires a background in Education and provides specific training in child protection, psychoeducational assessment, and consultation and collaboration within school systems. Stephanie is able to take a whole-school approach to issues and concerns when this is required as well as being skilled at delivering individual and small group counselling and interventions.
Stephanie also holds an additional M.Ed. in Special Education focusing on Autism, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties, and Specific Learning Difficulties in Numeracy and Literacy. She is interested in the intersections between mental health, social-emotional problems, and learning difficulties and passionate about early intervention to prevent one area of difficulty from affecting the healthy development of other areas in a child’s life. Stephanie’s dual training enables her to blend learning support with a therapeutic approach when impact on academic achievement forms part of the main concern.
