The Dance / Movement Psychotherapist at The Owl Centre in East London combines expertise and experience with a friendly and sympathetic approach to the children and parents they see. They also have links with the NHS to ensure a seamless continuity for clients who have received NHS assessments or therapy.

Abigail Jackson BA (Hons), MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy (ADMPUK)

Abigail qualified as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist from Roehampton University and is registered with The Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapy (ADMP UK).

Abigail’s therapeutic approach utilises dance, movement and sensory awareness to help individuals to express themselves, explore feelings and connect with others. The therapy is offered in a safe, non-judgmental space and sessions are tailored to the individual’s needs

Abigail has experience of working with children and adults within the field of mental health and has worked with people with a variety of physical, learning and behavioural needs within community, educational, in-patient NHS and care settings. Abigail adopts an integrative psychotherapeutic approach that interweaves humanistic, psychoanalytic and embodied perspectives and invites the use of music and props.

Currently, Abigail is working in the community providing a Mother-Daughter Dance Movement Psychotherapy Programme. Abigail is a visiting lecturer on the Roehampton University BA Dance Studies training, teaching the “Fundamentals of Dance Movement Psychotherapy” module to students. Abigail works for a dance company that provides a range of dance experiences for disabled and non-disabled dancers. Abigail is looking forward to returning to the NHS to join a Mentalization Based Arts Therapies Team working with people with Borderline-Personality Disorder.
