Sophie Jackson BSc (Hons), MRCSLT, MHCPC.
Sophie is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, having graduated from the University of Reading in 2017. She has varied experience working in both mainstream and special educational needs settings, with both primary and secondary school aged children.
Sophie currently works in a school for children with severe, profound and multiple learning disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral palsy and complex needs. She also works for a Speech and Language Unit in a mainstream school and implements a range of evidence based intervention approaches and works with a range of difficulties including Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia, language delay and disorder and speech sound difficulties. Sophie has a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and is passionate about every child communicating to their full potential.
Sophie enjoys working alongside families and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to the child’s communication development. She is passionate about supporting and empowering families.
Sophie is able to carry out a wide range of evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions and she ensures therapy is client centred, creative and highly motivating for the child. She is a compassionate and dynamic therapist who makes sessions enjoyable and rewarding; she is able to provide individualised targets and strategies to families.
Sophie is available for home visits on the weekends, some evenings and school holidays to provide initial assessment and tailor-made Speech and Language Therapy. She can visit the following areas amongst others:
