Barbara Cross HPD, DipCHyp, NLP MPrac.
Barbara Cross is a fully qualified, DBS registered Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Emotional Resilience Coach. Barbara helps people overcome a wide range of everyday issues. She works with children, young people and adults who already have challenges that they need help to overcome such as anger, defiance, withdrawal, exhaustion, sadness, stress and anxiety regarding a number of different areas including school attendance, bullying, working toward exams, sport tournaments, speaking in public, together with issues of depression, PTSD, OCD and many other areas.
Barbara works with a range of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Hypnotherapy, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Positive Psychology, story and metaphor therapy, modern psychotherapy and solution focused brief therapy. The therapy techniques used also work just as effectively as a preventative and educative tool before day to day issues cause those very problems that end up in someone sat in front of a therapist. She specialises working with children boosting their self-esteem, confidence and emotional resilience.
With young children, Barbara often uses techniques based on the Ollie and his Super Powers stories created by author Alison Knowles. As a registered Ollie Coach, Barbara uses outcome measures to assess the effectiveness of this brief psychological intervention and more and more children, young people, parents and professionals are beginning to see what a difference this powerful approach can make to the challenges children and young people face in their lives.
Barbara’s work is highly interactive, dynamic and is based on some of the most up to date theory on what really works in practice. Her approach with children and adults is that change can be fun, playful and engaging. Her aim is to normalise and de-stigmatise any problem someone faces. It’s not about them as a person, it’s a learnt negative behaviour pattern that can be just as easily unlearned with the right approach that suits each individual client.
Areas that Barbara can cover include (but are not limited to):
- East Hyde
- Hemel Hempstead
- Slip End
- St. Albans
- Welwyn Garden City
- Wheat Hampstead
